Study of online daters reveals that weight is the top trait women lie about
A study to be published in the April edition of Proceedings of Computer/Human Interaction revealed that out of 40 New York women who used Match.com, Yahoo! Personals, Webdate and American Singles, 64.1% of them lied about their weight by 5 pounds or more. Following weight, 39% lied about their height and 13.1% lied about their age.
The study was completed by Dr. Jeffrey Hancock, assistant professor of communication and doctoral student Catalina Toma of Cornell University, and Nicole Ellison, an assistant professor at Michigan University.
